PROPERTY GUIDELINES
- The property must be within the City of Norwalk’s limits/boundaries.
- Occupancy Ratio: No more than 1.5 people per living space (including bedrooms, living room, family room, den/study).
- CalHome program funds in support of an Owner-Occupied Rehabilitation program shall be used only for the following costs:
LOAN TERMS
- Principal and interest payments shall be deferred for the term of the CalHome Loan.
- The full loan amount becomes due and payable in the following circumstances:
PAYMENT BREAKDOWN
The Loan shall be due and payable in 20 years, with 10 percent of the original principal to be forgiven annually for each additional year beyond the 10th year that the Borrower owns and continuously occupies the home.
Example: The original loan amount is $100,000 with a 3% simple interest added, totaling $103,000.
Simple Interest Repayment:
The accrued simple interest cannot be waived. A monthly repayment of $250.00 will be required over the span of one year to settle the remaining balance.
HOW TO APPLY!
The City of Norwalk has been awarded the CalHome Grant, which assists eligible homeowners with repairs.
Please complete the form, and we will contact you as soon as possible.
To ensure the CalHome Program is fully funded and processed efficiently, the City will accept all interested parties and will process 25 applications at a time. Once an initial 25 applications are fully vetted, the City will proceed with the next set of 25 applicants. Thisprocess will continue until all available funds are allocated.
